  just watched this movie last night.. the premise of the title and film centers around the mother of young girl, who was raped, murdered, and set on fire by an unknown killer.

  convinced that the local police could be doing more, she erects billboards outside of town, calling into question the efforts of the town's beloved chief of police.

  this does not sit well with the other townspeople, and soon, the town priest comes to visit and admonish her.and after hearing him tell her if she came to church more regularly, she would be able to find the peace and resolution she needs over her daughter's death, she delivers this speech to him:.

  I pioneered in Missouri in 1968 . . . Montrose, Deepwater, Clinton, . . .

  It was quite different from California and New York. I loved it. We had to sit a spell and chat on the front porch before we got to the message.

  Thank you, Chook, smiddy, humbled, paradiseseeker, Still Totally ADD, stillin, and Tara, for your great thoughts (a funny ones, too). I really am just a regular guy, although my gingerness of hair would, seemingly, be a problem. Guess we gingers have to dye first!

  I cannot recall a lot of what had been my innermost sentiments of that time in life, but the heady, spiritual atmosphere of Bethel was a contributing factor.

  In answer to your question, paradiseseeker, Tara's reference to Romans 8 most certainly warrants your reading. Now, I do recall fervently mulling Paul's words over and over in my mind and heart, those of the spirit's bearing witness with our own spirit that we are God's children. In Society publications, the conviction was likened to that of a child reading a letter from Dad. Others may read his words to the child, but there's no filial connection. The son or daughter has a heart-and-mind link to Dad that no other individual could possibly possess. Somehow, my earlier dedication to Jehovah began taking on a deeper and more abiding meaning. I truly felt connected to my heavenly father. How does one explain to another person that you and Dad are unequivocally joined in spirit?

  Hope that brief explanation helps. As mentioned, I haven't thought about the deep-seated reassurance of Father-Son connection in years.

  Above the Fog, Below the Snow

  i live in the sierra nevada foothills of california; a selling point for prospective homeowners in the slightly lower elevation is what is touted in the subject title.

  well, right now we are being blasted by a storm barreling down from canada, with hazardous driving and blizzard conditions in the offing, higher up.. as to fog, this photo offers a rare display of misty conditions over our lake, that after the last major rain storm.

  it reminds me of summer days of my youth on the pacific coast..

  I did wonder how much actually fell at your level; thanks for that update. The resorts must be in heaven now.

  On Monday -- quite unexpected -- we had a couple inches of snow at our very low 1300' elevation. Not exactly rare but not so common.
